Blind Irishman sees with the aid of son’s tooth in his eye

beautiful eye

THIS STORY is something else,

DUBLIN (AFP) – An Irishman blinded by an explosion two years ago has had his sight restored after doctors inserted his son’s tooth in his eye, he said on Wednesday.

It really puts a whole new light on 1 Corinthians 2:9

9 But, as it is written,“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—
( ESV )

I am once again fully in awe of what God has created and given us in the ability to do these amazing things.

I guess it is a reminder that we need to be careful with the rules,  HERE is the story. It looks like it might have been a long time feud that finally came to a head but none the less there are rules.

If you are going to endorse a candidate, make sure you know the SHORT RULE HERE and HERE is another view ( half way down ) or HERE  if you want a LONG read

Real Hero update

simmons_baby.jpg

simmons_5.jpg

Talk about an emotional day, just scrolling through these pictures of this man of God’s farewell would put you in tears, All of L.A came to a stop to watch this unfold on TV,

I never met Officer Simmons but my heart just aches for all those close to him, family, friends, those kids he ministered to. I hope something good can come of this tragedy and that his community will rally around the man they loved as he reflected the God he loved and served

Our world is full of good men and women that have fallen to early in life, I hope they will not be forgotten, Abe Simpson was a young man of 19 when he lost his life, Abe entered boot camp Monday, August 11th, 2003, graduated boot camp Friday, November 7th, joined 3rd battalion 1st Marines Tuesday, February 10th, 2004, left for Iraq Friday, June 19th, and was killed by a direct hit of a rocket on Tuesday, November 9th during the battle for Fallujah.

Blessings to all of Officer Simmons and Abe Simpsons circle of family, friends and coworkers, never forget.

I was reading this story and it really struck me as to how far we have fallen over the edge since I was a kid in school, I do not think Sister Margaret would have tolerated this from us students way back in 1965, but now it looks as though it is becoming an accepted fact in the higher education venues of the Catholic Theological Union. Sr. Agnes ( below) has a couple of good points, KIND of… but she blends them with a fuzzy theology and then starts the slide down the slippery slope. The key word is her use of   ” new way to look” that is a sure sign to be wary.

    • “The key, according to Sister Bergant, is to shift from an anthropocentric concentration on human suffering to a theocentric reverence for God, the Creator “

So , that sounds right on, shift the focus from us to God…. but then she adds this little dilly “of an evolving universe”

Again, buzz words, a ever so slight slip into a humanistic philosophy.

    • “According to Sister Bergant, the idea of creation as a one-time act of God is outmoded.”

    Outmoded, how quaint, Lets see, since the beginning it has been Gen 2:1-2{ESV}

2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.  ( bolded text mine for emphasis )

I am sure Sr Agnes is smarter than I will ever be but when you start tinkering with the text, just to make it fit your philosophical point of view I think you do your point and the original text a disservice.

I do not know that I could debate an evolutionary wiz kid like her but I do know that finished is just that finished, Her point might be we are in an evolving universe, evolving in the tame sense of changing but i know the slippery slope will lead to “changing” into we evolved from the muck. It is just a matter of time before it will be taught in the theological center of Chicago’s Theological Union, nor do I think my little corner of the blog world will make a difference but I thought I would put it out there.

She closes with more grease for the slide. Buzz words bolded for effect.

    • Insights,reinterpretations and a new understanding…..

I am sure Sr Margaret would be spinning………..

    • “If you understand the cosmos as continually unfolding, we are talking about the dynamic power of God,” said Sister Bergant. This understanding, fueled by the insights of new science, allows a reinterpretation of static images of God. “It’s not so much I choose different images [from those of “Father” or “Protector”], it’s that I now understand the images differently in a dynamic way,” she explained.

    Scripture scholar
Sister of St. Agnes Dianne Bergant, professor of Biblical studies at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, will present Congress workshops March 1 on new ways to look at familiar scripture passages such as the Book of Job. The key, according to Sister Bergant, is to shift from an anthropocentric concentration on human suffering to a theocentric reverence for God, the Creator of an evolving universe.

“Our theology comes out of a Newtonian world view where everything fits together — this is not true,” said Sister Bergant in a telephone interview with The Tidings. According to Sister Bergant, the idea of creation as a one-time act of God is outmoded.

“If you understand the cosmos as continually unfolding, we are talking about the dynamic power of God,” said Sister Bergant. This understanding, fueled by the insights of new science, allows a reinterpretation of static images of God. “It’s not so much I choose different images [from those of “Father” or “Protector”], it’s that I now understand the images differently in a dynamic way,” she explained.

Starbucks Switches to Free AT&T Wi-Fi

SEATTLE (AP) — Starbucks Corp. and AT&T Inc. will start offering a mix of free and paid wireless Internet service in most of the global coffee retailer’s U.S. shops, beginning this spring.

The move announced Monday ends a six-year Starbucks partnership with T-Mobile, which did not include free Wi-Fi and charged higher fees than AT&T will.

Looks like they are feeling the pinch from the economy, I wish I had more time in my day to enjoy a sit down cup O’ joe at starbucks, maybe the offer will be extended to weekends 🙂

    ALCC just rocks !!

rock-on.jpgI have been thinking allot this afternoon about how fortunate I am, everything seemed to click today, AY nailed the communion meditation, his love of the Lord and life just came through. My message seemed to just click right into place, it piggy backed right through JG’s Sunday school lesson, our after the service lunch was dead on, great food, great fellowship.

I preformed a 20year wedding celebration for C&R, two people I love more than anything. LH is on the mend and her joy is contagious, GH is a ROCK of Christ, his presence just reaffirmed what is good about life. Little SG, although only 4, counted off 14 fingers when i asked him how old he is.

If I could put myself in any other place in this universe, back to the future style, I do not think I would be any place other than with this group of people, ALCC is just a core group of great people, we will make it work, we will let Jesus take his place and we will make it through, Christ reigns and we serve, Rock on ALCC !!
