I was thinking about my friends at The River Church today and it got me thinking about Living Water. It is funny how my brain works, so here is a view of the random thought popping around my noggin tonight.
He will lead them to springs of living water, or as the Old Testament refers to,Mikvah or a ritual immersion pool, which got me thinking about The living Water
“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD, the spring of living water.
On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Jesus so clearly takes a concept from the Old Testament and makes it come alive in the New, The old Testament has the Mikvah, a pool of standing water being contrasted to the New Covenant into a flowing spring of Life, not a stagnant pool but a life producing body.
My hope is this Christmas you will allow the Living Water flow from you, let the life renewing aration bubble up from your soul and turn from a stagnant pool to a river of hope.
